inSilicon Canada Ranked One of Canada's Hottest Startups

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2001--inSilicon Canada Corporation (formerly Xentec Incorporated), the mixed-signal, wireless and design services subsidiary of inSilicon Corporation (Nasdaq:INSN) -- a leading provider of communications technology for complex systems-on-a-chip -- today announced that the company has been named in the second annual ranking of Canada's Hottest Startups by PROFIT, the Magazine for Canadian Entrepreneurs.

inSilicon Canada, located in Toronto, Canada, specializing in the design of high-speed, mixed signal and wireless technologies, services leading semiconductor companies with their portfolio of mixed-signal intellectual property (IP) and design services. inSilicon Canada devices include Bluetooth solutions, high-speed D/A and A/D for video processors, and telecom IP such as POS, SPI-4 and UTOPIA. Acquired by inSilicon Corporation in December 2000, the company is the driving force behind inSilicon Corporation's mixed-signal business.

Canada's Hottest Startups highlights young, fast-growth companies ranked by revenue growth over fiscal 1998 through fiscal 2000, before inSilicon's acquisition of Xentec. During that time, Xentec grew in revenue from $700K in sales to $2 million.

``I would like to thank everyone for this award, especially my partners Chris Ouslis and Bob Gagne, along with all the Xentec employees and the Royal Bank of Canada for their support during these years. We have come a long way since 1997, and we are extremely excited regarding our future with inSilicon,'' said Xerxes Wania, president of inSilicon Canada and vice president of Mixed-Signal Business for the company. ``There is a strong synergy between inSilicon and the Canadian team. With our focus on mixed-signal designs and inSilicon's focus on digital, we have the tools to grow to be a strong global competitor.''

``We are very happy to see that inSilicon Canada has received such a prestigious award. When we signed on this strong team of mixed-signal and digital engineers, we expected to significantly increase our offerings in these markets,'' said Wayne Cantwell, president and CEO of inSilicon Corporation.`` The technology and expertise from inSilicon Canada has enabled us to ramp up in these markets faster than ever before and provide our customers with higher-value, more extensive semiconductor IP offerings. Many thanks to PROFIT for this recognition, and our heartiest congratulations to the inSilicon team in Canada.''

``Canada's Hottest Startups is the definitive list of this country's most dynamic new businesses and exciting entrepreneurs,'' said PROFIT publisher and editor Rick Spence. ``As a group, these aggressive companies are pioneering new levels of innovation and customer service. They are focused on unique new niche markets and they're targeting the world.''
